Four bases are possible to discover the coasts of
Sardinia and Sicily.
Sicily: Marsala and Palermo
Sardinia: Portisco and Carlo Forte
The bases south of Sardinia and Sicily are perfect to plan
a cruise towards Tunisia, the forgotten islands of Pantelleria and Lampedusa, or Malta, if you start from Marsala, south of Sicily.
Marsala , at the westernmost tip of Sicily, is a very picturesque city. Founded by the Carthaginians the city is well known for its
wines.
It is a very pleasant place where one can start towards:
- North west, the Egades islands (
25 m), Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo.
-south, same range: Pantelleria, a volcanic island, or Lampedusa, barren and rocky perfect for scuba diving.
Marsala is also a very good starting base towards Malta
, 120 m, and of course Tunisia.
Palermo,
possible starting base towards the Aeolian
archipelago and Lipari.

Portisco, on the
magnificent "Costa Smeralda" between Porto Cervo and
Porto Rotondo lis located only 10 minutes from Olbia airport,
north west of Sardinia.
From Portisco, there are several destinations to
sail to:
-La Maddalena, a natural park with extraordinary
beaches as pink Budelli.
-Corsica wild and high, the other side of Bonifacio.
-North Sardinia up to the virgin island of Asinara
and the eastern coast up to Orosei, the last shelter of the Monk seals.
-Carloforte south west of Sardinia,
on the island of San Pietro, part of the archipelago Sulcitano.
From Carloforte, there are 2 itineraries:
One alonside the west coast of Sardinia up to Alghero
and Stintino, the other towards the south down to Villasimus. They
are both in the wild with turquoise waters. .
Located at 110 m from Tunisia, Carloforte is an ideal start base for the African continent.
